The details of your wedding day are probably one of my favorite things to capture. It’s such a fun way to get creative and incorporate the little things into a story. From the rings to the carefully handwritten vows to the scent you wear on your wedding day… these details are part of your story.
Here is a general list I give out to my couples for ideas of things they can choose to be a part of their details on their wedding. These are all up to you and what you wish to have photographed. I also suggest around the week before start getting them all together in a bag or box and having them next to the dress in the bridal suite the morning of for your wedding photographer to easily grab and go!
Obviously these are just ideas or suggestions. What details you want captured are all up to you. Occasionally, I have had couples use only the bouquet and rings though I have also had couples use most of those listed. It’s just a matter of what is important to you on your wedding day!
Another special element to add to your details is any family heirlooms or special little mementos you have on your wedding day. If it’s a photo of someone special attached to your bouquet or a piece of jewelry that has been in the family for generations, make sure to let your photographer know! Don’t forget your “something borrowed, something blue, something old, something new” 🙂
Additionally, I always suggest having your photographer start with the details as soon as they arrive with at least 30-45 minutes to stage and shoot them. Meanwhile, you can finish getting ready before they come back to shoot those photos. As a wedding photographer, this gives me time to gather the details, find a spot with gorgeous lighting, and get everything staged to perfection. Don’t be surprised if your photographer bounces back and forth with the details during this time! We may keep the dress in the suite, but run down somewhere else for the rings and other detail shots!
